Atelier No. 8
Quiet architecture, given room to speak.
Independent design concept — created to demonstrate Northweave Studio’s capabilities. Atelier No. 8 is not a real business and this is not client work.

(01)The brand concept
A website for an imagined architecture and interiors practice — calm, exact and image-led, with a fully working demonstration site.
Atelier No. 8 is a fictional practice designing homes, interiors and small public buildings. Its work is restrained and material-led, and its clients are people who commission one building in their lifetime and want it to be right.
Architecture websites often bury the work under clever navigation. Our brief to ourselves was the opposite: let the photography lead, keep the interface almost silent, and make it effortless to move from a project to a conversation.
(02)Design direction
Warm limestone neutrals, an expanded grotesque set with architectural precision, and generous margins that behave like the white space around a drawing.

Quiet architecture, given room to speak.
Body — Archivo
One family at two widths: expanded for titles, regular for reading. Precise, quiet and unmistakably architectural.
(03)Website features
Website features
Image-led project gallery
Projects filter by discipline without a page reload, and every project opens into a calm, long-form case study.
Considered page structure
Home, projects, studio and contact — four clear destinations, each reachable in a single tap.
Responsive art direction
Photography is cropped differently for small screens, so buildings never feel squeezed.
Quiet motion
Images settle into place as you scroll; nothing competes with the work itself.
(04)Desktop experience
Full-bleed photography, an index of projects with discipline filters, and long-form project pages with facts set in a precise two-column grid.
Homepage
A full-width wordmark and a single, quiet image set the tone.
Projects
Discipline filters and an even, gallery-like grid.
(05)Mobile experience
A single-column narrative with a full-screen menu, thumb-friendly filters and images re-cropped for portrait screens.
Portrait crops and a single-column narrative. Every concept is designed for the phone first, then expanded for larger screens.
(06)Key decisions
Key design decisions
- 01
Typography as the logo
An expanded wordmark set across the full width of the hero gives the practice presence without a symbol.
- 02
One idea per screen
Each section makes a single point, so visitors absorb the work rather than skim it.
- 03
Contact at the right moment
Every project ends with a natural invitation to discuss a commission, rather than a hard sell.
